OUR STORY
Chatta Begum Rokeya Educational Society (CBRES) is a Kolkata-based registered non-profit organization that has been actively working for over 22 years to uplift marginalized communities across West Bengal. Founded by Sri Rajib Mandal, an educator and social activist, CBRES envisions a society where access to quality education, health, nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods is a right, not a privilege. Our core focus areas include education, healthcare and hygiene, nutrition, women’s empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods
We work at the grassroots level through community engagement, capacity-building, and awareness programs that create long-term impact. Guided by the principles of equity, excellence, community partnership, and sustainability, CBRES fosters inclusive growth and social justice. At CBRES, our work is guided by four core values that shape every initiative we undertake. Equity drives us to ensure fairness and inclusion for all, especially the most marginalized. We pursue Excellence by striving for the highest quality and impact in our programs. With a deep belief in collaboration, we build with communities, not just for them—reflecting our value of Community. And above all, we focus on Sustainability, aiming to create change that is not just immediate, but lasting and transformative. These values are the foundation of our commitment to empowering lives and building resilient futures.
To date, CBRES has directly impacted the lives of over 2,000 farmers, 550 mothers and children, and 800+ women, among many others.

Our initiatives are built on the foundation of empowerment—equipping individuals and communities to lead healthier, more informed, and economically stable lives. While our operations are currently concentrated in West Bengal, we are preparing to expand our reach into other Eastern Indian states, bringing our experience and proven models to new regions in need.
